Mr. McAlear has had a distinguished Maritime career that has included leadership positions in the four dimensional aspects of the Industry – ship new construction (NC); ship maintenance, repair, overhaul and conversion (MROC); ship owner / operator; and marine equipment supplier.  His experience includes serving as President and CEO of the leading ship repair company on the East and Gulf Coasts of the US, and as CEO of the newest and most modern ship construction yard in the US.

 

Mr. McAlear holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine and Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  He also completed business and executive studies at Tulane University, the University of New Orleans and the Harvard Business School.  He is past Chairman of the Gulf Section of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and is a member of the Propeller Club of the United States, the American Society of Naval Engineers and the United States Navy League. He received the Massachusetts Maritime Academy “Mariner of the Year” award, and has published several articles in industry journals and provided expert testimony to the U.S. Congress.
