Mr. Herberger has 35 years of experience in the automotive industry. He began his career with General Motors (GM) in 1973. He held a variety of analyst and leadership positions with GM in several disciplines including finance, planning, sales and marketing.

 

Mr. Herberger joined GM Service and Parts Operations (GMSPO) in 1992 as that organization’s Chief Financial Officer. He was appointed General Director of AC Delco in 1996. The following year he was named Chairman and CEO of General Motors Japan and a member of GM’s Asia Pacific Strategy Board. He returned to the United States in 1998 to head up GM’s Western Region with responsibility for all vehicle sales, service and marketing. He was appointed GM Vice President and General Manager of GMSPO in 2002.  Before retiring from GM in 2009, GMSPO achieved seven consecutive years of record profits and the highest customer satisfaction scores in the industry.

 

Mr. Herberger joined Allstate Insurance in February 2011 as President of Allstate Dealer Services (ADS).  Under his leadership, ADS broadened its product portfolio, strengthened its brand, and achieved record growth in all distribution channels.  At Allstate, he was also responsible for Allstate’s collision repair business - - Sterling Auto Body Centers. 

 

Mr. Herberger holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. Bonaventure University and an MBA from Michigan State University.  He has served on the board of directors for Genesys Health Systems, the leading health care provider in mid-Michigan. He was also Chairman of the Genesys Audit Committee.  He was a member of the University of Michigan-Flint Advisory Board and a past Chairman of the Genesse County United Way Campaign.
